My Nighttime Skincare Routine
BEST FOR ACNE-PRONE SKIN
Step One
- The first product I use in my routine is The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm.
- This step is essential in my routine for taking off any makeup, dirt, or grime that my skin may have been exposed to during the day.
- Gentle and perfect for acne-prone skin because when double cleansing you don’t want to strip your skin from double cleansing with a more abrasive cleanser.
- Overall for the price, I think this product does the job of taking off my makeup but if you don’t wear makeup you can skip this step.
Step Two
- My next step is La Roche-Posay Effeaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser.
- I used to double cleanse with this but learned that double cleansing with a strong cleanser was only stripping my skin leaving it drier which makes you produce even more oil causing you to break out even more.
- This product is a medicated foaming gel cleanser that targets excess oils and helps clear acne breakouts.
- I ONLY use this at night.
Step Three
- My third step is La Roche-Posay Toner.
- This step is essential for prepping the skin for moisturizer I usually put a few drops on a cotton pad and swipe it all over my face.
- Toner targets any clogged pores, you will be amazed even after double cleansing how much gunk is left on your face still.
- Toner is also great for clearing up any texture.
Step Four
- My fifth step is THE1NKEYLIST Retinol.
- This brand has great quality products for less $$$.
- Retinol is great for reducing and preventing wrinkles.
- I ONLY use this at night! This may be strong so you may want to use it every other night
Step Five
- For my moisturizer, I mix La-Roche Moisturizer with Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid this is such a good way to save some product because La Roche is a little pricey and doesn’t seem to last long.
- Since I have acne-prone skin my skin can end up super dry from any acne medication I’m using so these two work great together to keep my skin nice and moisturized.
Step Six
- For years I’ve used a dermatologist’s Retinol which helps with acne but that stuff is so strong my skin would literally be peeling off.
- Every night I apply a small amount of La Roche Acne Treatment all over my face after moisturizer. Yes, I said after moisturizer! I learned this trick from my dermatologist it makes it less harsh if I apply it over it.
- Recently I’ve tried Aesops Control and it’s also a great product for breakouts you just pop a small amount right on the blemish and it almost disappears overnight.
Step Seven
- I love Aesop’s Exalted Eye Serum it is packed with Vitamins which is perfect for brightening the eyes. This stuff is pretty pricey but expensive but you only need the smallest amount and it glides on effortlessly. Just a side note if you store this in the fridge it and use it in the morning it’s great for depuffing
- Aesop’s Parsley Seed Eye Cream doesn’t come with all the Vitamins that the serum comes with but is great for hydrating under the eyes, perfect for people with dryer skin.
- Before I used Aesop I used CeraVe Eye Repair Cream and it was a pretty good alternative for the price point.
Step Eight
- Rodan+Fields Lash Boost!!
- This step isn’t necessary for acne-prone skin BUT this stuff grows your lashes incredibly.
- It is pricey but if you are spending money on fake lashes you can definitely splurge on this stuff and it lasts so long.
- I apply this almost every night along my lash line
